Shockwave Therapy is a clinically proven, safe and effective
treatment for soft-tissue injuries, as recommended by the
National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).

Used in top orthopaedic hospitals and professional sports bodies

How does it work?

The Shockwave Therapy machine passes short, intense pressure and acoustic waves together that travel faster than the speed of sound into affected tissues.

This process disrupts the cells and prompts a healing response from the body, increasing circulation, creating new blood vessels, stimulation of collagen, break up of existing calcifications, disruption of neurotransmitter  'substance P' and relaxation of muscle/fascial trigger points.

Does it work?

There are many high quality (over 9000 over 30 years) clinical research studies into Shockwave Therapy.

Clinical reports showed that 69% of 149 randomly selected patients reported “excellent” results (no pain), with no adverse side effects.

Shockwave Therapy can be used on a number of different areas, from the Achilles’ tendon to back and shoulder pain and everything in between.

Shockwave is not a stand alone treatment, it should be used as part of a full rehabilitation process.

How many sessions?

6 sessions over 6 weeks is a typical program, particularly for tendonopathy problems.

Sometimes more sessions are needed for chronic persistant problems

It is a good idea to have a review 6 weeks later, as the healing initiated does continue to work after the sessions and many healing processes occur over 12 weeks.

Some people choose to book further sessions for improved performance, injury prevention, or to manage a chronic condition.

Shockwave for Excruciating Knee pain

“I was unable to walk very far and the knee kept giving way. As a HGV driver working was near impossible. The Doctor diagnosed arthritis and prescribed naproxin and exercises which was not working.

I had Shockwave Therapy and after 3 weeks I was not using pain medication. After 6 weeks of therapy and wearing orthotics I am pain free and back to work.”
